France wished to organize the education of the equitation by creating a school which has for aim the preparation for teachers' superior diplomas and for high-level competitions. Entrusted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the French National Riding School naturally leaned on the know-how and the knowledge of the écuyers du Cadre Noir. In this new school created in Saumur, heir of those which preceded it, their original missions were enlarged : training of horses, teaching of sports equitation and form in the equitation's professions
The Cadre Noir de Saumur represents the teaching staff of the French National Riding School. As they are real experts in their discipline, the riders have for main mission to pass on a technical and theoretical knowledge. They also have to train and maintain in successful state the horses which they present in the Riding school Dressage or in that of the Jumpers, as well as in the national and international competitions where they represent the school. They also have to prepare the horses which are entrusted to them for the education of the pupils.
Cultivated, educated the education of the great masters of the equitation and curious about the evolution of the equestrian practices, the écuyers of the Cadre Noir contribute actively to the preservation and to the brilliance of the French equitation by illustrating and by passing on its principles, during public presentations in France and abroad
