The farriery
Five farriers works full-time on the farriery of the school. Here, we shoe English-style: the shoeing farrier works only, while they are two to shoe French-style.
To Saumur, hoofs are thus adorned and shod all 4 in 6 weeks. Bought in great quantities, chains are adapted under hot conditions to the shape of the foot of the horse. One hour is necessary to shoe a horse and approximately 80 horses are attributed to every farrier.
A particularity of horses named "jumpers": among the airs above the ground of school practised to Saumur, the croupade and the capriole kick away a powerful energy. By security we take out the posterior iron of the jumpers so as to avoid that an iron gets loose violently from the hoof.
